It's mid-summer auction season around here. Weather's great, and we've seen some very nice auction action so far this summer. There's been no telling how any one auction will go, we've seen literally hundreds of people at an auction, with prices sky-high, and then again, we've seen a few not as well attended where nice items went for very reasonable prices. Been very hit-and-miss. Generally though, despite the fact that business in general here in Northern Ohio is a little...off... at times during an auction I find myself thinking what recession? We've spoken with both auctioneers and auction attendees, and it seems a lot of us have noticed that there are fewer auctions than there were only a few years back. Having gone to auctions for 30 years plus, we here at HOA always thought the auction industry was sort of recession-proof. You know, when times are good, people have discretionary income, and when times are not-so-good, folks will save by buying at auction instead of paying new-item prices. Anybody out there have any ideas for the reason that there are fewer auctions? We'll pass along any input we get. In the meantime, get out there and enjoy the all the auctions, and all the summer, that you can.
